First love: A Florida officer’s touching relationship with an abandoned boxer puppy

A Florida police officer had an amazing day at work not too long ago when he visited an animal shelter in response to a routine call and ended up adopting a black and white pit bull puppy named Kylo. Officer Marcus Montgomery went to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Fort Walton Beach to handle a situation involving a former shelter employee. As Marcus was finishing up his investigation, he noticed the adorable Kylo being held by one of the employees.

Love at first bark: Florida police officer Marcus Montgomery was responding to a call at a local animal shelter when he met Kylo, a pit bull puppy, who he couldn't resist bringing home

Florida police officer Marcus Montgomery’s heart was stolen at first bark. While on duty responding to a call at a nearby animal shelter, he crossed paths with Kylo, an irresistible pit bull puppy. Unable to resist the pup’s charm, Marcus decided to bring him home.

Sweet dreams: Kylo was abandoned in a box at the back door of the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society in Fort Walton Beach

Goodnight wishes: Kylo was left in a box at the rear entrance of the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society in Fort Walton Beach, left to find his own way in the world.

The force is strong: Both Kylo (right) and Marcus' other dog Vader (left) are named after Star Wars villains

The power is strong: Kylo and Marcus’ other dog, Vader, are both named after characters from Star Wars. Marcus recalled their first encounter, noting that Kylo looked tired with heavy eyes and constant yawning. He shared that Kylo was found at the back door of the shelter during his investigation, where a supervisor heard the puppy crying and found it in a box outside. Despite warning the supervisor not to bring Kylo inside, Marcus couldn’t resist taking him home after seeing him from a distance.

Best buds: Marcus said that his older dog Vader loves playing with and meeting new dogs

Good pals: Marcus shared that his senior canine Vader absolutely adores frolicking with and getting to know unfamiliar furry friends.

Pit bull bias: Marcus said he worried that people would look past Kylo because of his breed, which comes with more responsibility than others

Marcus expressed concern that people may overlook Kylo due to his breed, which requires extra responsibility. However, others in the household are excited about the new addition, including the officer’s girlfriend Kristen Martin, who has another rescue pit bull named Vader. Vader, named after a Star Wars villain, is thrilled to have a new playmate. Vader was also once overlooked at a shelter, with many people ignoring him. Despite knowing the challenges of owning a pit bull like Kylo, the Montgomery family welcomed him into their home. Now, Kylo spends his days playing and napping with his big brother Vader.
